- ★ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆I try to put up with the lack of customer service. But not only are the loan specialist stuck up and rude, but the credit card/debit card customer service (phone service) is ridiculous! - ★ ★ ★ ★ ☆I just don't like the fees and attitude at commercial banks and gave them up years ago, I now try to work with ONLY credit unions whenever possible. I opened an account with NMEFCU when I came to Albuquerque 12 years ago and I have since a long and comfortable business relationship with them. Things were a little frustrating during the "transition" years of adapting to web-based banking... but they are now fully interactive and offer text message alerts and several tools for managing my finances. I appreciate overdraft protection and other services which come free or very low cost. And anytime they have screwed up on their side, or I have screwed up for a good reason (like purse stolen) - they are quick to provide an acceptable remedy. As a Realtor I also have worked successfully with the mortgage department and closed several loans with no significant problems - which is an accomplishment in this day!By Chris Nyman Weller, January 18, 2017
